Privacy Notice

This notice describes the information this private reference site may receive, why it is used, when another service may receive it, and the choices available to visitors.

Information We Receive

Search terms entered in a third-party search box pass to that provider under its own privacy terms. We may receive messages and contact details that a visitor sends voluntarily. Servers, analytics services, and advertising systems may automatically record an IP address, browser type, device details, referring page, pages viewed, and approximate location. Cookies or similar storage can remember settings, measure use, and support advertising.

How Information Is Used

Information may be used to operate and secure the site, answer messages, understand traffic, improve content, prevent misuse, and show or measure advertising. We do not use a message to alter a Nevada County government record because we do not hold those records.

Who May Receive Data

Data may be shared with search partners, hosting and security vendors, analytics providers, and advertising networks as needed for their services. We may also disclose information when required by a valid legal order, to law enforcement as the law requires, or to protect rights and safety. We do not promise that an outside provider follows this notice.

Links and Outside Services

Links lead to Sheriff reports, courts, VINE, CDCR, federal locators, and other independent sites. Their operators control their own collection, cookies, retention, and security. Review the policy shown by each service before submitting personal data.

Security and Retention

Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage method is completely secure. Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, legal duties, dispute resolution, or system protection.

Children and Privacy Rights

This service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly seek a child’s personal information. Depending on where a visitor lives, law may provide rights to access, correct, delete, or limit use of personal data. Send a privacy request through Contact Us. We may need to verify identity and may retain information when law permits or requires it.

Changes to This Notice

We may revise this notice as technology, vendors, or legal duties change. The version posted here governs use after it is published.
